Description

The Human Resource Management Internship is designed for individuals looking to develop skills in managing people, policies, and processes within a large governmental organization. Interns will work within DIRCO’s HR department, gaining exposure to key functions such as recruitment, performance management, employee development, and labor relations. This role offers a deep dive into the human resource challenges faced by public sector organizations, particularly those involved in international relations. Interns will learn about how HR policies are developed and implemented to support the department’s workforce while ensuring compliance with labor laws and governmental regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Interns will assist with a variety of HR functions, including recruiting and onboarding new employees, organizing training and development programs, and maintaining accurate employee records
  • They will support the performance management process by assisting in the preparation of employee evaluations, tracking progress on development plans, and providing administrative support to the HR team
  • Interns will also be involved in labor relations, helping to resolve employee grievances and ensuring that workplace policies are adhered to
  • Additionally, they will work on special projects, such as improving diversity and inclusion initiatives and updating HR policies to reflect best practices

Qualifications

  • Candidates should have a qualification in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, or a related field
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as the role requires working closely with employees and managers across different departments
  • Candidates must demonstrate excellent organizational abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information
  • A solid understanding of labor laws and HR policies is important, and experience with HR management systems or software will be an advantage
  • The ideal candidate will have a passion for fostering a positive workplace environment and be committed to helping the organization meet its staffing and development goals
